Project Description
AVP had an outdated site built on a proprietary fork of Joomla, and the site was difficult to manage for the whole communications team. As a result, they mostly didn’t update it. There were also issues across key organizational functionality online – for instance, since AVP was using Wufoo for donation forms, they weren’t able to accept sustainer gifts online. We had many upgrades to tackle!

We started with a full content audit and information architecture reorganization. After that, we built from the ground up in WordPress. While design was important to AVP, there were also many functionality concerns. I moved them onto the Give plugin for online gifts, enabling sustainer gifts as well as other benefits. We also moved their key forms onto GravityForms. Since AVP is a direct service organization and their constituency often reports via an online form, this was a big move!
Sue Yacka-Bible, Communications Director at AVP at the time, said of working with me:
“Dominique builds beautiful, useful websites, but that’s just the beginning of her talents. The value that Dominique adds to a project is her investment in organizational mission, superb project management skills, and collaborative ethos. Dominique transformed the New York City Anti-Violence Project’s website from outdated and inefficient, to robust, useful, and visually compelling, all while harmonizing the unique needs of our staff, clients and community members. Hiring Dominique as a consultant is like adding an enthusiastic, thoughtful, fully-invested staff person to your team, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly.”
